How to increase blog’s pageviews – 7 killer ways

Amongst the various ways to measure a site success / popularity, I really like to check the relation between each visitor and the amount of pageviews seen, as it’s a very accurate way to realize how good your content is, as it shows how much a reader hook up with your content; apart from being one of the most important factors taken into account when it comes to getting popularity and advertisers.

Apart from putting up great content on each post, you should know there are also quite a few techniques you can apply to increase the rate visitor / pageviews.

Remember it’s basically all about connecting your posts. I currently have an average of 6.64 pageviews per user, which is great yeah, but I attribute it to the fact that visits are not so high yet, so it’s normal to have those kinds of numbers. Anyway this should definitely help you.

How to increase your pageviews

Bear in mind we start with the “Content is King” concept.

# 1 Related Post

A MUST. Having a list with related posts within your footer will not only result on a better experience for your reader and increase on the average time spent within your site, but also in pageviews performance.

If you’re not too familiar with coding, you can use the YARPP (Yet Another Related Post Plugin) for WordPress which will do all the work.

# 2 Link on the post of the post

If scroll up the page a bit you’ll see that under this title’s post you can find a link to the previous written post.

This is a great way to connect posts between each other, it’s on a place where the link is going to receive quite a big amount of clicks yet it’s discreet and stylish.

# 3 Connect your posts within your posts

Apart from using the YARPP and the link under the title, it’s highly recommended that you connect your blog internally, not only to link up both your content and your readers, but this has also SEO benefits.

# 4 Adding a Feature

Adding a Feature Box on your blog may be a great idea. They look very cool and it’s a first-class way to “highlight” your best posts. As you know, the feature boxes contains a slider –or slideshow- so you will be able to show up a decent amount of posts that the user will want to read, hence, guaranteed pageviews.

Apart from that, put up an “Affiliate Marketing post” on the slideshow will get you an increase in terms of revenue, as the post will always be on the top.

# 5 Using Teasers

Teasers are amazing. From my viewpoint the blog looks cooler with the way the posts are displayed when using them, but you’ll also have the possibility to display a higher amount of posts within the homepage than if you use the normal display option.

If you’re using thesis then enabling the option is really simple, if not, you need to be code-friendly to do it.

# 6 Widgets

Most people ignore this technique yet it’s very simple and usefull. Adding a Top Post list within your sidebar will boost the amount of pageviews per user.

To increase even more your chances just make sure there’s no need to scroll down the page too much to find the widget. Make it visible.

# 7 Search

The search bar is essential. There’s not always easy to find a particular post or content so adding a search bar will increase your readers’ satisfaction. Apart from that, there’s a known factor that a visitor wants everything easy and clear, nobody wants to spend a minute looking for a post; so give them the opportunity to at least try to find what they’re looking for. Make it easier for them before they only have one option left: to leave your site.

Those ideas are working amazing on every blog that I’ve had so you should definitely implement them if you’re not using them yet.
