Telegram founder asked to stay away from WhatsApp

Pavel Durov, founder of encrypted messaging service Telegram, has advised everyone to use ‘any messaging app’ other than WhatsApp to avoid the risk of phone hackers.

Last week, WhatsApp announced a security vulnerability in its own app. According to the British daily The Independent, hackers have the opportunity to hack the device by sending videos containing malware to the victim’s number by taking advantage of that error.

In that context, Telegram founder Pavel Durov said on his own platform, “Hackers can have full access to everything on WhatsApp users’ phones.”

“Every year we learn about some new WhatsApp issue that puts everything on a user’s device at risk. It doesn’t matter if you are the richest person in the world; If you have WhatsApp installed on your phone, all the data of every app on your device can be accessed.”
