Comilla University's Chhatra League committee 'dissolution', weapons drill on campus

The committee formed for one year has been running for about five and a half years. Many of the leaders of that committee are no longer students; Many have left the university. Someone is working in the university again. President Elias Mia is a student of the first batch of the university in 2006-07 academic year, he also does not have a studentship. It is also alleged that he has been living alone in a room in Shahid Dhirendranath Dutta Hall of the university for 15 years.

In view of this situation, on Friday night at 11:49 PM on the Facebook page of Bangladesh Chhatra League, in a press release signed by the president of the organization, Al Nahian Khan Joy and the general secretary, writer Bhattacharya, the expired committee of Comilla University branch of Chhatra League was declared dissolved. Within half an hour of publication of the circular, it was removed from the Facebook page of the Chhatra League.

And this is where the ‘confusion’ begins. Opponents of the ‘dissolved’ committee claim that, the press release is correct, the committee has been disbanded. Again the ‘abolished’ committee says, it has been forgotten. The committee will be given through the conference ahead.

However, the President and General Secretary of the Chhatra League could not be reached despite several attempts on Saturday to talk about this matter.

Central Chhatra League’s circular said, “Bangladesh Chhatra League Comilla University Branch Committee has been declared dissolved due to expiry of term. Along with this, aspirants interested in the post of president and general secretary of the new committee have been instructed to submit resumes within the next 10 working days.”
